The Biathlon Russian Championship, Biathlon Russian Cup 4th Stage was held at the Biathlon Academy Multifunctional Complex (37 Biatlonnaya Street). The complex is a facility for biathlon training and competitions. Its doors were opened in 2011, and it received a B Category licence from the International Biathlon Union (IBU) two years later, at the same time when it was also granted the right to host competitions at an international level, such as Universiades.
The total ski course length is 6.2 km. In addition, the sports complex has a hotel which can accommodate 79 guests and a shooting range with 35 target installations. In the run-up to the Winter Universiade 2019, the Biathlon Academy Multifunctional Complex has had courses lengthened and its stadium enlarged, the stands have been refurbished, and it has had artificial snow generators, the course lighting and a video screen installed.
The Biathlon Russian Cup and Biathlon Russian Championship have a long-standing tradition in Krasnoyarsk. Back in 1964, Krasnoyarsk hosted the RSFSR Biathlon Championship. Now, the best biathletes from all over Russia travel to the Biathlon Academy Multifunctional Complex in Krasnoyarsk every March to decide who are the Russian Champions in each discipline.
Krasnoyarsk athletes have never come away from the home stage of the national championship without any medals. The last time a competition of this level was at the Biathlon Academy Multifunctional Complex in March 2016 and works began in the summer of the very same year to refurbish the sports facility in preparation for the upcoming Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019.
