On 18, 20 and 22 December, the Sopka Cluster were held the Snowboard Russian Cup Stage in the following disciplines: big air, slopestyle and halfpipe. The event was attended by about 150 athletes who played six sets of medals.
It is worth noting that Denis Tikhomirov, President of the Russian Snowboard Federation (RSF), recounted the competitions in Krasnoyarsk: "Sopka Cluster is a really large-scale project. I have watched the slopestyle competitions and I would like to say that the course meets the world standards in quality and complexity. Well-developed infrastructure, sports facilities and ramps of this level can let us host all-Russian and international competitions here in the future. Of course, the Organising Committee shall initiate further usage of the venue, but the RSF will definitely support this initiative. The World Cup stages can be hosted here. I hope that we will host the Russian Championships in the future and also use the Sopka facilities as the place for training events of the Russian national Snowboard team".
The Snowboard Russian Cup Stage will continue at the Sopka Cluster on 16-19 January 2019. The athletes will compete for medals in parallel giant slalom, giant slalom and snowboard cross/
The Sopka Cluster will host the event. The venue is constructed for the Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019 and is a part of the Winter Sports Academy. The Cluster includes the Sopka Multifunctional Sports Complex, Snezhny Sports and Training Block, Halfpipe Complex, Set of Alpine Skiing Courses, Freestyle Administrative and Training Block, Set of Freestyle Skiing Courses, and the helipad for medical transport. What makes the Sopka Cluster unique is that all the Freestyle and Snowboard courses are located in the same place, and all the infrastructure venues, required for the athletes and coaches including trampoline and training halls, are nearby.
