Krasnoyarsk Territory Governor Ice Hockey Cup played for at Crystal Ice Arena
In Krasnoyarsk, the Governor Ice Hockey Cup was competed for at Crystal Ice Arena. Six teams of juniors born in 2008 participated in the tournament, namely, Sokol Krasnoyarsk, Sibir Novosibirsk, Metallurg Novokuznetsk, Altai Barnaul, Yermak Angarsk and Barys Astana, Kazakhstan.
Sokol Krasnoyarsk had a long string of successful matches with no defeats. Junior athletes started the tournament with a crushing victory over Metallurg with a score of 9:1 and then won against Yermak—6:2. The third match of the tournament was again in favour of the Krasnoyarsk team—6:4 against Altai while Barys Astana lost to the local team with only one goal difference—3:2.
The closing day of the tournament was concluded with the match between Sokol Krasnoyarsk and Sibir Novosibirsk. The hosts mounted a couple of dangerous attacks, but they just could not score. Krasnoyarsk juniors managed to reduce the goal difference before the break. Scoring four pucks more, Sibir had even more chances in the third period. As a result, Sibir won the tournament (8:1), with Sokol claiming the second place. Barys Astana lost to Yermak Angarsk with a score of 3:5.
As a reminder, junior Ice Hockey players from Russia and Kazakhstan played against each other five years ago at Vektor-2019 tournament in Krasnoyarsk held on the occasion of the 29th Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019. This year, the tournament took place at the new Crystal Ice Arena that held matches of the Games from March 2 to 12.
