Winter Universiade 2019 Museum Opens in Krasnoyarsk
Today the Museum of the 29th Winter Universiade 2019 was opened in Krasnoyarsk. The exposition is located in the space of the city tourist and information centre (3 Avenue Mira, Basement).
The Museum features five thematic areas: “Krasnoyarsk – the Soul and Power of Siberia”, “The Universiade Test Events”, “The Universiade Athletes”, “Youth movement. Fans. Volunteers”, and “Awards Hall”. The exhibits include medals of the 29th Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019 and test competitions, clothing of the awarding group, attributes of fans, coins, badges, printed and souvenir products with the event symbols, as well as the Torch and other attributes of the Universiade Flame. The Museum uses modern technologies. For example, the focal point of the exhibition is the Torch with a projection, which creates the illusion of burning fire. Special attention should be paid to the augmented reality zone and interactive panel, where guests can test their knowledge of sports by answering quiz questions. Information in the Museum is available both in Russian and English.
The Museum is open for Krasnoyarsk residents and city guests. Among the first visitors were Pavel Rostovtsev – the Minister of Sport of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Yulia Verkhushina – the Head of the Regional Tourism Agency, Sergei Eremin – the Mayor of Krasnoyarsk, Natalia Firyulina – the Chairwoman of the Krasnoyarsk City Council, and Denis Branchukov – the Deputy Director General of ANO “Directorate Krasnoyarsk 2019”.
“The Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019 is a transformational event for us, Krasnoyarsk residents – we opened our city to the whole world. We want this Museum to remind us of this event. They say time stands still in museums, but here it’s different as the newest technologies are used and the exhibits seem to be full of the energy of youth. I am sure that visiting the Museum will be interesting for tourists and Krasnoyarsk residents, including very young children,” the Mayor Sergei Eremin said.
After the excursion, the Mayor Sergei Eremin handed over to the Museum two exhibits, which are associated with the Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019 and have a special significance to him. The first one is a music box presented to the Mayor by the FISU President Oleg Matytsin. The second one is the ten-ruble coin with U-Laika, which had always been with the Mayor as a mascot after the special issue of coins at the Krasnoyarsk 2019. Sergei Eremin also gave the Museum a gift copy of the book The City in which a Million People Live.
As a reminder, the WU2019 was held in Krasnoyarsk from March 2 to 12, 2019. It was the first Winter Universiade in the history of Russia.
