Tatyshev Island, West Side: Ethnic Village
Outdoor and city square folk festivities with a parade of people in costumes, a theatrical performance on the open-air stage, traditional fun games and giant 5-metre tall puppets. The clownish concert will organically fuse with interactive activities that will invite the spectators to join in: khorovod circle dancing, huge pancake baking, pancake launching to the sun and the «bear» flash mob (a dance with the bear that is the first to wake up in the spring right after Maslenitsa). While the clownish action is in full swing, the spectators decorate the effigy of Maslenitsa and eventually everyone joins in a mass khorovod dance to mark the reconciliation between Winter and Spring. The festivities will finish off with the Maslenitsa games and competitions in the bright Russian style and buffoonish fun activities. The project will be carried out by the Laureates of the Altai Territory Award, the Kuki-Velikani Theatre and Altai State Youth Ensemble of Song and Dance.
