KRASNOYARSK CITY PALACE OF CULTURE
48 Svobodny Avenue
The Boyarynya Morozova play is part of the multicultural project implemented by OKO Polzunov, the open cultural exchange platform for contemporary art of the Centre of Cultural Initiatives. The project embodies a modern interpretation of Vasily Surikov’s Boyarynya Morozova painting, without a single line of text but through the poetry of visual theatrical art. It is the first attempt in the Krasnoyarsk Territory to explore the artistic and historic meaning of the painting through contemporary choreography and professional modelling. The project is intended to commemorate Vasily Surikov’s 170th anniversary and the 130th anniversary of the Boyarynya Morozova painting. Boyarynya Morozova is a collective image of a strong Russian woman who is struggling for her faith and convictions that she considers to be true.
