Young Reporter Programme

First time in the history of Winter Universiades educational FISU Young Reporters’ Programme (U-Media) held in Krasnoyarsk

FISU (International University Sports Federation) and ANO «Directorate Krasnoyarsk 2019» organised the educational Young Reporters’ Programme (U-Media) for the first time in the history of winter universiades. The project enables young sports journalists from all over the world to enhance their professional skills within the delivery of the international competitions.
By the results of the competition 18 people were selected for the participation in the project: six novice journalists from Canada, Great Britain, USA, Australia, Republic of South Africa, Nepal and also twelve journalists from different cities of Russia: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Barnaul, Magnitogorsk, Pskov, Arkhangelsk, Lytkarino and Omsk.

Lectures and workshops of experienced international and national experts were provided for the participants of the Programme as were meetings and working sessions at sports venues of the Winter Universiade 2019 under the guidance of experienced mentors. Within the project during the discussion with young reporters the lecturers shared their experience of some cases from major sport events: the FIFA World Cup, the 2014 Winter Olympics, the Russian Grand Prix, the Paralympic Games and others. At the sessions the participants of the educational programme learned how to competently organise activities of a news agency during multi-sport events, about features of sports photography, as well as about the main directions of online media in sports journalism.
Besides, the participants of the Programme got accredited as media representatives and visited the key events of the Games: the Opening and Closing ceremonies and sports competitions.
The obtained knowledge was put into practice by the reporters when creating materials about the Winter Universiade 2019 for the periodical publication of the Games and social networks of FISU and the Directorate of the Winter Universiade 2019.
